Professor Associate Doctor Aurel Ymeti is scheduled to deliver an engaging lecture on "Biosensors for Point-of-Care Applications" to the students of Western Balkans University. He has been invited to WBU by the Department of Technology and Business, and this provides an excellent opportunity for the students to broaden their knowledge and gain valuable insights into this field.
Prof. Ymeti is an inventor and scientist in applied physics, specializing in nano-devices. He is a senior researcher at the NanoBio Research Group at Saxion University of Applied Sciences and also serves as the CEO of Nanoalmyona BV.
He cofounded Ostendum, a spin-off company of the MESA+ Institute for Nanotechnology of the University of Twente, focusing on the commercialization of extremely sensitive and label-free optical analysis methods for rapid detection of micro-organisms and biomarkers based on the Lab-on-a-Chip Nanotechnology, initially invented and developed by Prof. Ymeti during his Ph.D. project. As CTO at Ostendum, he was responsible for research and technology development, product management, and new business development.
In 2017, Prof. Ymeti became an Associate Professor at the Polytechnic University of Tirana, Albania, working on High Tech Systems and Materials for innovative product development. Prof. Ymeti has authored about 40 papers in journals and presented more than 30 keynote lectures at conferences.
