Prof. Dr. Reg Pecen is a member of the International Advisory Board of the Western Balkans University.
He is a Quantum Professor of Engineering Technology at the College of Engineering and Technology, Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas, USA. He is a former President and CEO of the University of Houston, TX. He graduated from the FBI Houston Citizens Academy in 2015. He is a member and program coordinator of the American Society for Engineering Education. He was also the coordinator of the Electrical Engineering Technology (EET) and Graduate Programs in Technology (M.S. & Ph.D.) departments from 1998-2012 at the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls, Iowa.
He served as a member of the Executive Board of Iowa Alliance for Wind Innovation and Novel Development (IAWIND), a partnership with state and local governments, community colleges, Regent Univ., the private sector, and the federal government, to promote wind energy, facilitate the research and training needs of wind energy companies (2009-12). He received a Certificate of Recognition from the Iowa State Senate in 2012 for outstanding service and contribution to the state of Iowa for the development of clean and renewable energy and the promotion of diversity and international education since 1998. He received the UNI C.A.R.E Sustainability Award in 2011 for the recognition of applied research and development of renewable energy applications at UNI and Iowa. He received the Diversity Matters Award for individual contributions to advancing diversity goals at UNI in 2010.
He was known as a nominee for the Advisor of the Year award among UNI faculty in 2010-2011. He was recognized by UNI President Ben Allen for excellence in the Annual Student Survey in 2007 and 2010. He co-chaired the doctoral dissertation entitled "Low-Power Energy Harvesting and Storage Techniques" which was selected for the Outstanding Dissertation Award by UNI Grad. School in 2008. He received a Milestone award for outstanding mentorship of graduate students at UNI in 2011.
