Nursing is a discipline of medicine, which deals with the provision of medical assistance to patients, their treatment and care for individuals to maintain and improve their health. A nurse is a professional who deals with nursing, curative, sedative and rehabilitative assistance to patients. He participates in the determination of health needs, plans, administers and evaluates the assistance intervention, guarantees the correct implementation of the diagnostic and curative medical instructions. The nurse assists in scientific research, university training and support staff, and after graduation can specialize in various fields or attend study programs such as professional or scientific masters, etc.
The first cycle of the Nursing Bachelor program is designed to offer students an intellectual, professional and comprehensive training, presenting a variety of concepts and perspectives in the field of medical technical sciences, specifically in Nursing. The main objective of this study program is to prepare general nurses to be able to work in all profiles of medicine, to be able theoretically and practically to serve patients and above all to create in them a sense of respect and love for the patient.
In this program students create a clear vision for the human body; both physiologically, anatomically and biochemically. Starting from the second semester onwards, professional practice has been assigned in the curriculum, in order to enable students to serve patients in all types of diseases. The study program is in line with the vision of the University “Western Balkans” good education and prepared for higher professions.
Upon completion of this program, graduates will be able to:
Plan and implement nursing activities at all levels of the health system (primary, secondary, tertiary).
Integrate patient data, clinical evaluation, and priorities into health care planning and evaluation goals.
Manage and practice their profession in an organized and independent manner,
Provide effective care for the individual, his / her family and community, respecting differences, culture and ethnicity.
Educate their community on a healthy lifestyle.
Demonstrate the integration of professional knowledge, skills and attitudes through the use of evidence and clinical reasoning.
Provide nursing care in different workplaces according to their level of education.
Communicate successfully with patients / clients, and colleagues from other nursing teams and demonstrate communication and management skills for patient safety and ensuring quality assurance in teamwork.
Demonstrate skills in the use of technology, information technology system and in the implementation of health care.
Think critically, evaluate and interpret expert knowledge in making clinical decisions for patients, to ensure high quality evidence-based care.
Participate in interdisciplinary collaborations to ensure a quality care system for treating patients.
Coordinate the duties of the nurse in accordance with relevant legal procedures and adhere to ethical standards related to patient safety, confidentiality and the right to privacy.
Apply ethical principles in the implementation of health care and learn through independent, self-improvement self-assessment activities for their work as part of their nursing teams.
The graduate in the general Nursing program, taking the State Exam, enjoys the right to practice the profession and is able to work as a nurse, both in public and private health structures.
With the completion of the study program of the first cycle in Nursing, students can be employed at public and private hospitals, hospital clinics, polyclinics, laboratories and other institutions that need medical services and can individually practice the profession after obtaining a professional license.
