The Bachelor Study Program in “Biotechnology” is part of the Faculty of Economics, Technology and Innovation. This program aims at the general training of students in conventional and molecular biotechnologies. The knowledge that this program will provide is mainly related to the knowledge and study of the structure and functioning of biological systems. Students will be introduced to the use of theoretical and practical tools necessary for the analysis, use and modification of these systems which are very important for the protection of the environment and human health.
Graduates in this program will have competencies in biomolecular methodologies in the field of microbiology and immunology, parasitology and diagnostics of infectious diseases. The knowledge and competencies will be acquired through this three-year program, which provides a first-year curriculum with basic training courses, to continue with the second year during which specific courses for the direction of biotechnology are combined, as well as in third year with a curriculum focused on food biotechnology, medical and pharmaceutical biotechnology and others. These disciplines serve the general formation of a biotechnologist.
