Job Description

Western Balkans University (WBU) is a private higher education institution located in Tirana, Albania, is seeking an English Language Unit Coordinator to oversee and enhance its English language programs. The role is situated within the Basic Sciences department and reports directly to the Head of the Department. This position offers a dynamic opportunity to shape the English language education at a growing university with an ambitious vision. The role combines teaching responsibilities and coordinating the relationship that the institution has with other organizations, for ensuring continuous improvement in the English language.

The English Language Unit Coordinator's Responsibilities

The English Language Unit Coordinator has the responsibilities in the following areas:
  • Teaching: 
Teach the English language at different levels 
Develop course material for different study profiles and levels
 
  • Planning and Coordination: 
Coordinate and facilitate daily operations of the assigned unit, including scheduling meetings, managing calendars, and maintaining records.
Plan all the levels and divisions of the English language for all departments and Coordinate with the other organizations to administer the English proficiency tests; 
  • Curriculum Development: Work with teaching staff to update and refine English language curricula, and organize professional development sessions for instructors
  • Administrative Responsibilities: Maintain records, submit annual reports, and contribute to departmental meetings and strategies.
  • Professional Development: Encourage and support ongoing professional development for both the coordinator and the teaching staff.

Job Requirements

  • Candidates must hold a PhD or Master’s degree in English, TESOL, Applied Linguistics, or a related field, with at least three years of experience in advanced English instruction.
  • Proven expertise in curriculum development, strong organizational and communication skills, and familiarity with English proficiency tests (e.g., APTIS, TOEFL, IELTS) are required. 
  • Experience with organizations like the British Council is advantageous. Proficiency in English is mandatory, and additional languages are considered a plus.
