Marinela, presently,  is a Physics Lecturer at the Technical Medical Sciences Department of the Western Balkans University. 

Marinela Gjestila earned her Bachelor’s degree in Physics from the University of Tirana, Albania, in 2014. Pursuing further academic excellence, she undertook a double Master’s degree program between the Faculty of Natural Sciences at the University of Tirana and the University of Ferrara, Italy.

Following her Master’s studies, Marinela joined the Photovoltaic Laboratory at the University of Ferrara, where she contributed for a year. Building on this experience, she commenced her PhD program within the same research group, culminating in June 2022. Her doctoral research was focused on the study of light distribution within an algal photobioreactor and the development of a light sensor to measure light intensity within it.
