Eriona Petro is a lecturer and researcher working in the fields of public health, pharmacoepidemiology, and pharmaceutical policy, with a particular focus on access to essential and paediatric medicines. At Western Balkans University, she is engaged in teaching and academic research activities, combining scientific research with extensive institutional experience in health system management and quality assurance.
She holds a Master of Science in Pharmacy from the University of Tirana and is completing a Professional PhD in Pharmaceutical Policy and Regulation at the WHO Collaborating Centre for Pharmaceutical Policy and Regulation, Utrecht University, the Netherlands. She is also a Fellow of the International Society for Quality in Health Care (ISQua) and has served as an external quality expert for the accreditation of healthcare institutions, contributing to the assessment of healthcare quality and safety standards.
Her research interests include pharmaceutical policy, evaluation of essential and reimbursement medicines lists, access to medicines, and the application of World Health Organization methodologies and Sustainable Development Goal (SDG 3.b.3) indicators in health system analysis. She has completed advanced professional training in pharmacoepidemiology, drug safety, pharmaceutical policy, health financing, and public health, delivered by internationally recognized institutions including Utrecht University, the World Health Organization, and SSPH+ Lugano. She is an author and co-author of peer-reviewed international publications.
