"The European Purgatory of the Western Balkans" is the topic of a conversation that Mr. Ditmir Bushati, a well-known politician, lecturer, and former Foreign Minister, will have with students of the University of Western Balkans on Thursday, November 9.
Mr. Ditmir Bushati is an expert in European law and the EU enlargement process. He served as Foreign Minister from 2013 until 2019.
Before getting involved in politics, Mr. Bushati was a civil society activist. He has led the European Movement in Albania. Bushati is a member of the ECFR (European Council on Foreign Relations). He also served as an analyst for "Freedom House" (2007-2008) for the "Nations in Transit" Report; national reporter for the European Society of International Law (ESIL); national coordinator of the Open Society Foundation (OSF) for monitoring Albania's progress in the European integration process (2006-2008). He has served as a consultant in various EU, WB, USAID, GIZ, OSI, Friedrich Ebert Foundation, IOM, and SNV projects.
Mr. Ditmir Bushati is an accomplished lecturer in European Law and the EU Enlargement Process, having taught at various universities and research institutions in Albania and Kosovo. He is also a prolific author, having published numerous scientific papers and articles related to the EU enlargement process, Public International Law, and European Law.
