Western Balkans University launched the first module of the TECH2LINK Train-the-Trainers Programme, opening a practical discussion on how university knowledge and research can move beyond the academic environment and generate real-world impact.
The session, titled “Legal and Intellectual Property Foundations of Technology Transfer,” was led by Dr. Eda Çela and focused on some of the key legal and institutional elements that support successful technology transfer.
Throughout the training, participants explored topics including intellectual property, contracts, licensing, and commercialization, with particular attention to the Albanian legal framework and to lessons drawn from important national and international cases.
A strong practical component formed part of the session. Participants engaged with real trademark disputes, reviewed patent and design cases, and discussed the role universities can play in protecting knowledge, supporting innovation, and transforming research outcomes into solutions with broader social and economic value.
The first module marked a strong start to a programme designed to strengthen knowledge, institutional capacity, and a culture of technology transfer within the academic community.
Further TECH2LINK training sessions will follow as the programme continues to build practical expertise and support closer links between academia, innovation, and real-world application.
