From 20 to 22 March Tirana hosted TRN-TLV Tech Week, a high-tech conference that attracted a lot of attendees from Albania and Israel. The conference was a good opportunity to showcase the latest advancements in technology, including virtual reality, artificial intelligence, and cyber security.

Western Balkans University, as one of the organizers of this summit, hosted the activities of the last day. Representatives of more than 40 Israeli companies were present at the conference.

The president of WBU, Prof. Dr. Ferdinand Gjana emphasized in his speech that this venture in the field of technology will bring a good opportunity for the new generation. “The companies that are present in us today aim to open their start-ups in Albania, to bring new opportunities in the field of technology, that give young people the opportunity not to leave our country, to have a better income. WBU has been one of the main partners in this activity. Offering cooperation with all dimensions to realize new and important projects for our country and for the region.”

Prof. Asoc. Dr. Fatbardha Kadiu, Dean of the Faculty of Economics, Technology, and Innovation made Brief presentation of Western Balkans University and the programs that this university offers.

CEO of the Technology Center of Excellence, Dr. Idaver Sherifi, during his speech, emphasized the security of personal data. "We are mainly focused on services and training in cyber security. In fact, Albanians have only recently heard a lot about these. The biggest and most serious attack was recorded on July 15, 2022, it was the attack on e-Albania. Just two months later, we also had another attack on the Tims system. After that, many other attacks happened. So, in this situation, there is a big problem in the security of our data.”

The Israeli expert in technology and cyber security, Roi Matis Shaposhnik, in his closing remarks, emphasized that: "Combining our knowledge with wonderful people, young people, is a rare opportunity to build such an ecosystem in Albania and in the region. WBU is a very important point that pushes us to convey our ideas and motto, to think a lot to lead Albania to the future."

At the end of the conference, representatives of Israeli companies got acquainted with Albanian culture. A surprise organized by WBU students for them.

This activity provided attendees with a unique opportunity to learn, network, and discover new opportunities in the Albanian tech ecosystem.
