Program Description

The Department of Nursing and Physiotherapy at Western Balkans University’s Faculty of Technical Medical Sciences also offers the Master of Science in Nursing (second-cycle study program). This program is accredited by the Agency for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ASCAL). The program is available to students in both English and Albanian. The Master of Science in Nursing is offered in five specialized profiles:

-          Emergency Nursing
-          Pediatric Nursing
-          Surgical Nursing
-          Intensive Care Nursing
-          Obstetrics and Gynecology Nursing

The program helps students build scientific and managerial expertise. It allows students to achieve an advanced level of professional preparation fit for leadership roles upon completing the two-year course.

Objectives

The Master of Science in Nursing program aims to provide students with advanced training to carry out highly qualified activities in specialized fields. It also equips them with the foundation to analyze patient needs, plan, design, and manage interventions, and conduct scientific research in various clinical contexts. Graduates will stand out as primary partners in interdisciplinary patient care, contributing to the promotion and maintenance of health and the prevention of diseases.

Career opportunities after graduation 

Graduates of the Master’s program develop scientific knowledge, ethical values, professional skills in nursing and research expertise, which allow them to:
-          Analyze the needs of individuals and the community;
-          Implement the development of new methods of work organization;
-          Utilize innovative technologies, including those in the field of informatics;
-          Plan and organize pedagogical and training interventions;
-          Ensure the standardization of operational procedures.

Students may pursue doctoral studies only after completing the Master of Science in Nursing program.

Employment Opportunities

Graduates of the Master of Science in Nursing program find employment opportunities within the National Health Service (hospitals, health centers). They may also work in a wide range of healthcare institutions, participating in the organization and management of health services.

Graduates are also involved in designing and applying educational interventions for the continuous professional development and training of healthcare professionals. Additionally, they contribute to the training of fellow healthcare specialists through tutoring, coordinating professional practice, and ongoing competence development in Nursing.

Graduates hold an advanced role in healthcare and management and may take on positions such as:
