The International Relations Office of Western Balkans University invites WBU academic staff to apply for participation in the Erasmus+ Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) “One Health Digital Care: Artificial Intelligence, Digital Medicine, Dentistry and Rehabilitation”, organised by the Department of Innovative Technologies in Medicine and Dentistry at the University “G. d’Annunzio” of Chieti–Pescara, Italy.

The programme will take place from 21 to 25 September 2026 and will bring together academics, researchers, students and professionals from partner universities for an interdisciplinary exchange focused on digital healthcare, emerging technologies and innovation.

Available Erasmus+ places: 3 staff members.

Objectives

The programme aims to:
  •  Promote interdisciplinary academic exchange within the One Health framework. 
  •  Explore the application of emerging technologies in healthcare. 
  •  Strengthen knowledge and cooperation in Artificial Intelligence, Digital Medicine, Dentistry, Rehabilitation and related fields. 
  •  Encourage collaboration between academics, researchers, students and healthcare professionals. 
  •  Support the development of future academic, research and Erasmus+ cooperation between partner institutions.

Scope

The BIP addresses the integration of emerging technologies and healthcare disciplines, including:
  •  Artificial Intelligence 
  •  Digital Medicine 
  •  Dentistry 
  •  Rehabilitation 
  •  Speech and Language Therapy 
  •  Biomedical Engineering 
  •  Health Sciences 
  •  Medicine and Medical Technologies 
  •  Other related interdisciplinary fields 

The programme will include lectures, workshops, clinical case discussions, innovation challenges and collaborative activities.

Academic staff may also actively contribute through lectures, workshops and interactive discussions. Partner universities may deliver a Country Excellence Lecture presenting educational programmes, research strengths, innovative projects and best practices in healthcare education and research.

Who can apply?
The call is open to WBU academic staff, lecturers and researchers whose teaching, research or professional profile is relevant to the themes of the BIP.
Particular consideration may be given to applicants working in:
  •  Medicine 
  •  Dentistry 
  •  Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation 
  •  Nursing 
  •  Digital Health 
  •  Artificial Intelligence 
  •  Biomedical Engineering 
  •  Health Sciences 
  •  Medical Technologies 
  •  Related interdisciplinary fields 

Selection criteria:
  •  Relevance of the applicant’s teaching/research profile to the BIP 
  •  Academic and professional experience 
  •  Motivation for participation 
  •  Potential for developing future academic, research and Erasmus+ cooperation 

Required documents:
  •  Completed application form 
  •  Updated academic CV 
  •  Motivation letter in English 
  •  Proposed Country Excellence Lecture topic, if applicable 
  •  Copy of ID or passport 

Applicants interested in delivering a Country Excellence Lecture should indicate this in their application and provide a proposed topic.

Participation is supported through Erasmus+ KA171 funding, including a mobility grant and travel contribution in accordance with the applicable Erasmus+ rules for short-term mobility.
