Western Balkans University invites applications for the position of Vice Dean for Academic Affairs within the Faculty of Medicine. 
The Vice Dean serves as a senior academic authority within the Faculty, supporting the Dean in the strategic coordination, development, and supervision of academic affairs in accordance with the University Statute and institutional regulations. 

The Vice Dean exercises delegated academic and administrative authority from the Dean in matters related to academic affairs, teaching processes, and academic quality assurance. 
The position requires a distinguished academic professional capable of strengthening academic standards, supporting curriculum development, coordinating teaching activities, and ensuring the effective implementation of institutional academic policies and procedures. 

The Vice Dean is expected to contribute to the continuous improvement of academic programmes, teaching quality, student performance, and institutional development in alignment with national and international standards in higher education and medical education.

Duties and Responsibilities 
Academic Leadership and Coordination 
  • Supporting the Dean in the strategic management and supervision of academic processes within the Faculty; 
  • Coordinating the implementation and continuous improvement of study programs; 
  • Supporting the development, review, and updating of curricula and academic documentation; 
  • Coordinating academic planning activities in collaboration with departments and academic units; 
  • Monitoring the quality and effectiveness of teaching and learning processes; 

Academic Quality Assurance
  • Supporting the implementation of internal quality assurance mechanisms related to academic affairs; 
  • Monitoring academic performance indicators and contributing to quality improvement initiatives; 
  • Ensuring alignment of academic programs with accreditation standards, institutional regulations, and higher education legislation; 
  • Supporting the evaluation and continuous enhancement of teaching methodologies and academic standards; 

Student Affairs and Academic Processes
  • Supporting the effective administration of academic procedures related to students and study programs; 
  • Contributing to the organization and coordination of academic schedules, examinations, and teaching activities; 
  • Supporting student academic progression and institutional academic policies; 

Institutional Responsibilities
  • Ensuring compliance with the University Statute, internal regulations, and institutional policies; 
  • Contributing to Faculty and University academic committees, meetings, and institutional initiatives; 
  • Supporting the strategic development and institutional objectives of the Faculty and the University; 
  • Representing the Faculty in academic matters when delegated by the Dean. 

Education and Qualifications

 
Candidates must meet the following minimum requirements:
 
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in higher education, including teaching, research, and academic administration; 
  • Academic title of Professor (Prof. Dr.); 
  • Proven experience in academic leadership, institutional management, and development of academic programs; 
  • Demonstrated experience in curriculum development, academic coordination, and quality assurance processes; 
  • Strong academic leadership, organizational, and institutional management skills; 
  • Excellent communication, coordination, and interpersonal skills; 
  • Familiarity with accreditation standards, quality assurance systems, and higher education governance frameworks; 
  • Native or proficient level of English.
