Department of Medical Laboratory Sciences and Imaging

Department of Medical Laboratory Sciences and Imaging

The Department of Medical Laboratory Sciences and Imaging brings together a diverse range of healthcare disciplines to support the advancement of diagnostic services and improving healthcare treatment. With a strong focus on innovative high-quality education, hands-on clinical training, and applied research, the department prepares students for meaningful careers in areas such as medical laboratory science, radiologic and ultrasound technology, pathology, and optometry. Through a multidisciplinary approach, students gain the skills and experience needed to contribute effectively to patient diagnosis and care.

Our study programs are designed to combine solid scientific theoretical knowledge with practical experience, empowering students with the knowledge, technical skills, and clinical competence required to thrive in modern healthcare settings. Students benefit from mentorship by a dedicated faculty composed of experienced clinicians, researchers, and academic leaders.

The Department also prepares students to become future researchers and academics in these fields. In addition, students are encouraged to take part in research activities, learn how to design experiments, and contribute to the development of new diagnostic methods. This foundation allows them to take on leadership roles, guide other technical staff, and pursue academic or research careers in laboratory science, radiology, or optometry.

The department contributes to the mission of the university by providing high quality services, as well as offering support in teaching, research, and consultation. We are constantly supporting each other by working together to reach a single goal: helping patients with the highest quality of healthcare.

Students enrolled in the Medical Laboratory Sciences and Imaging programs benefit from structured clinical rotations in a wide range of healthcare settings, allowing them to gain essential hands-on experience and apply their knowledge in real-world environments. Internship placements are offered in both individual and group practices, including recognized institutions such as American and Hygeia Hospitals, Cambridge Clinics Laboratories, and other specialized clinics.

In their final year, students receive focused support as they prepare for their professional licensing exams, with guidance from faculty and industry professionals. Thanks to the department’s strong network of partners, many students are presented with real employment opportunities upon graduation—both within our affiliated institutions and the broader healthcare sector.
