A delegation from Western Balkans University led by the rector, Prof. Ferdinand Gjana, visited the Institute of Advanced Radiosurgery in Madrid. During this visit it was signed a MoU between WBU and IRCA.
The delegation was welcomed by Prof. Kita Sallabanda Diaz and the Managing Director of the Institute of Advanced Radiosurgery (IRCA), Pablo Jiménez-Herrera. Both institutions agreed to launch a strategic collaboration aimed at enhancing clinical and academic opportunities for medical students.
The agreement establishes a pathway for students of the Medicine School at Western Balkans University to attend the International Master’s Degree in Central Nervous System Radiosurgery, jointly offered by IRCA and Alfonso X el Sabio University (UAX).
Directed by Dr. Sallabanda, the program awards 60 ECTS credits and delivers in-depth training aligned with international standards in advanced radiosurgery. Students will gain valuable hands-on experience in treating brain tumors, neurovascular diseases, and functional disorders using the latest technology.
IRCA, located within Hospital Viamed Virgen de la Paloma in Madrid, is a leader in the field of radiosurgery and houses Spain’s only Zap-X system, a groundbreaking, non-invasive technology with only ten units available worldwide. The Zap-X allows painless outpatient treatment, requiring no anesthesia, and represents a significant advancement in brain radiosurgery.
This collaboration marks a significant step for Western Balkans University, providing its medical students with access to cutting-edge education and real-world clinical experience —strengthening their skills and preparing them to be leaders in modern medicine.
