Position Description
 
Western Balkans University seeks to appoint a full-time Professor or Associate Professor in Pediatrics to support the integrated study program “Master of Science in Medicine,” as well as other related programs in the field of medical sciences.

The selected candidate is expected to deliver high-quality academic teaching in Pediatrics, covering key areas of child health, including growth and development, prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and management of pediatric diseases, as well as the application of this knowledge in clinical practice and patient care.
The ideal candidate should possess a strong academic background and demonstrated teaching experience in core areas of Pediatrics, including the physiology and pathology of infancy and childhood, neonatal and pediatric care, management of acute and chronic pediatric conditions, preventive pediatrics including immunization, as well as clinical assessment and diagnostic approaches in pediatric patients.  

Furthermore, the candidate is expected to have a comprehensive understanding of the role of Pediatrics within interdisciplinary healthcare teams, coupled with a strong commitment to student engagement, adherence to professional ethics, and the effective application of contemporary teaching methodologies.
This position offers the opportunity to contribute to the education of future physicians through curriculum development and the integration of contemporary teaching and learning approaches.

Job Requirements

Duties and Responsibilities
1. Comply with and act in accordance with applicable legislation and internal institutional regulations;
2. Adhere to the provisions of the university statute and internal policies;
3. Uphold ethical standards and institutional discipline, avoiding any actions that may damage the institution’s reputation;
4. Supervise students and organize academic consultations and advising sessions;
5. Engage in departmental administrative duties as assigned;
6. Deliver teaching activities in accordance with the official schedule (lectures, seminars, laboratories, and clinical practice);
7. Prepare course syllabi and submit them for approval in accordance with institutional guidelines;
8.Continuously develop professional and academic competencies through training and development activities;
9. Participate in research activities and professional training aligned with their field of expertise;
10. Undergo academic staff performance evaluation processes;
11. Submit an annual report on teaching organization and delivery;
12.Contribute to the development, planning, updating, and implementation of high-quality curricula;
13. Assist in the development and updating of teaching materials and monitor student progress, performance, and participation;
  14.Participate in departmental and faculty seminars focused on research presentation and interdisciplinary collaboration;
15.Contribute to the preparation, administration, and grading of exams and other assessments;
16. Actively participate in teamwork within the department, faculty, and the University.  

Education and Qualifications
● Minimum academic title: Professor or Associate Professor in Pediatrics
● English language proficiency: C1 level
● Experience in academic teaching, clinical supervision, or medical training
● Scientific publications in pediatrics or related health sciences fields are considered an advantage
● Experience in conducting practical sessions, case-based learning, or clinical simulations in Pediatrics is desirable
