Position Description

Western Balkans University is seeking to appoint part-time academic staff for courses in the field of Economics. The selected candidate will be responsible for developing and delivering modules covering contemporary economic concepts and theories, including microeconomics, macroeconomics, international economics, public economics, econometrics, economic policy, and economic development. The candidate is expected to possess advanced theoretical and analytical knowledge in the field of economics, as well as the ability to analyze economic phenomena, market developments, public policies, and the impact of economic factors at both national and international levels. Additionally, the candidate should be capable of applying contemporary teaching methodologies that encourage critical thinking, academic discussions, economic data analysis, and the integration of economic theories with current economic and social developments. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to the academic and professional development of students, the enhancement of university curricula in the field of economics, and the preparation of professionals with a strong theoretical and analytical foundation for today’s modern labor market.

Job Requirements

 1.      Be familiar with, respect, apply, and act in accordance with the applicable legislation and internal legal acts in force; 
2.      Comply with the provisions of the University’s statute and internal regulations; 
3.      Adhere to institutional ethics and discipline, avoiding any actions inside or outside the institution that may damage its image; 
4.      Undertake responsibilities related to student supervision, academic consultations, and advising; 
5.      Engage in departmental administrative duties as defined by relevant guidelines; 
6.      Respect teaching schedules in accordance with the officially approved timetable for lectures, seminars, laboratories, and practical sessions; 
7.      Fulfill obligations related to the preparation and submission of the course syllabus, following approval by the head of the basic unit and in accordance with applicable guidelines; 
8.      Continuously enhance academic and professional skills and participate in relevant professional development activities; 
9.      Participate in research and scientific activities and training aligned with their academic profile, in accordance with institutional needs; 
10.  Undergo academic staff performance evaluation procedures; 
11.  Submit an annual report at the end of each academic year covering all aspects of teaching organization for the respective course, following the prescribed format; 
12.  Contribute to the development, planning, updating, and implementation of high-quality curricula; 
13.  Assist in the development of teaching materials, maintain records to monitor student progress, achievement, and attendance, and update teaching materials and the syllabus as necessary; 
14.  Participate in departmental and faculty seminars aimed at presenting research work and fostering interdisciplinary collaboration within and beyond the department; 
15.  Participate in the development, administration, grading of examinations, and other assessment activities; 
16.  Contribute to teamwork within the department, faculty, or “Western Balkans” University. 
 
Education and Qualifications 
 
·         Doctoral Degree (PhD) in Economics, Economic Sciences, or related fields; 
·         Academic title of “Professor” or “Associate Professor” is considered an advantage; 
·         In-depth knowledge of microeconomics, macroeconomics, international economics, economic policy, and econometrics; 
·         Experience in university-level teaching; 
·         Strong analytical, research, and pedagogical skills; 
·         Proficiency in English (minimum B2 level / C1 preferred); 
·         Strong communication and organizational skills; 
·         Experience in economic research, statistical analysis, or development projects is considered an advantage; 
·         Participation in research activities, scientific conferences, and academic publications is considered an advantage.
