Western Balkans University is seeking to hire a part-time Lecturer in the field of Biochemistry, to provide teaching and academic support to students of the Department of Biosciences and Engineering. The Lecturer is expected to be specialized in biochemistry, with advanced theoretical and practical knowledge of the chemical processes within and related to living organisms.

 

The candidate must be able to lead theoretical and practical classes, covering core topics such as the structure and function of biomolecules, enzyme kinetics, metabolism, biochemical pathways, and molecular mechanisms of disease. The Lecturer should also be able to demonstrate laboratory techniques relevant to biochemical analysis, including spectrophotometry, electrophoresis, chromatography, and enzymatic assays, as well as guide students in data interpretation and scientific reasoning.

4. Undertake tasks related to student supervision, organizing academic consultations and advising;

5. Engage in the implementation of administrative tasks in the department which are defined in the relevant instructions; 

6. To respect the time allocated for teaching according to the official schedule approved for the development of lecture, seminar, laboratory and practical classes; 

7. To fulfill the obligation to draft the syllabus and submit it after approval by the head of the basic unit according to the instructions in for; 

8. To increase professional academic skills and participate in training activities for this purpose;

9. Participate in scientific research activities and training in accordance with his/her profile (field of study), according to the needs and determinations of the institution;

10. To undergo an evaluation of the performance of academic staff; 

11. To report at the end of each academic year on all aspects of the organization of teaching for the relevant discipline according to the predetermined format; 

12. To contribute to the development, planning, updating and implementation of a high-quality curriculum;

13. Assist in the development of learning materials, and record keeping to monitor student progress, achievement and participation; update learning materials and syllabus; 

14. Participate in department and faculty seminars aimed at presenting research work and building interdisciplinary collaboration within and outside the department;

15. Participate in the development, administration, marking of exams and other assessments;

16. To contribute to the group work of the department, faculty or Western Balkans University.
