Position Description
Western Balkans University is seeking to hire a full-time Lecturer in Organic Chemistry to support the Pharmacy study program within the Department of Medicine. The candidate is expected to provide high-quality academic teaching, focusing on the theoretical and practical foundations of Organic Chemistry, and its relevance to pharmaceutical sciences.
The ideal candidate should possess advanced knowledge in Organic Chemistry, including reaction mechanisms, stereochemistry, synthesis of organic compounds, and structure-activity relationships relevant to pharmacology. Familiarity with laboratory safety and procedures for Organic Chemistry practicals is essential.
This position offers the opportunity to contribute to shaping future pharmacists by enhancing the curriculum and integrating contemporary approaches to teaching and learning.
Duties and Responsibilities
1. To recognize, respect, implement and act in accordance with the legislation and internal legal acts in force;
2. To implement the provisions of the statute and internal regulations of the institution;
3. To implement the rules of ethics and discipline in the institution, avoiding any action inside and outside the institution that harms the image of the institution;
4. Undertake tasks related to student supervision, organizing academic consultations and advising;
5. Engage in the implementation of administrative tasks in the department which are defined in the relevant instructions;
6. To respect the time allocated for teaching according to the official schedule approved for the development of lecture, seminar, laboratory and practical classes;
7. To fulfill the obligation to draft the syllabus and submit it after approval by the head of the basic unit according to the instructions in for;
8. To increase professional academic skills and participate in training activities for this purpose;
9. Participate in scientific research activities and training in accordance with his/her profile (field of study), according to the needs and determinations of the institution;
10. To undergo an evaluation of the performance of academic staff;
11. To report at the end of each academic year on all aspects of the organization of teaching for the relevant discipline according to the predetermined format;
12. To contribute to the development, planning, updating and implementation of a high-quality curriculum;
13. Assist in the development of learning materials, and record keeping to monitor student progress, achievement and participation; update learning materials and syllabus;
14. Participate in department and faculty seminars aimed at presenting research work and building interdisciplinary collaboration within and outside the department;
15. Participate in the development, administration, marking of exams and other assessments;
16. To contribute to the group work of the department, faculty or Western Balkans University.
